DAY 3

Taking charge of your body

The focus of this stage is to really understand how your body affects your moods.

Motion creates Emotion

So many times I have people call me in a crisis and ask for advice. The first thing I tell them is to go for a run, exercise, dance. Do something physical. They don’t think its going to help and its true that they aren’t going to fix their problem by going for a jog but changing your body changes your mood and when feeling overwhelmed, stressed, sad or flat you won’t be able to fix anything. You need to get yourself in a mood that will help.

Best of all, moving your body feels good! When you’re sitting in a chair relaxing, exercise doesn’t always sound like it is going to be great but when you do it does. So today you need to exercise! Just once. Just for twenty minutes. Anything you want. You don’t even have to sweat. All you have to do is do more than you normally would. Go for a run, a ride, a walk, a swim. Anything you wouldn’t normally do. Even better if it’s outside. Being outside just makes you feel more alive.

There is a good chance that you will surprise a few people when you pull on the runners and people will ask “Is this a new exercise routine? How long will it last for?” Just say “No. Not a routine. Just a one off because I feel like getting out.”

Good luck. Now stop reading and go!
